Brock Bourgase is a basketball coach based out of Toronto, Canada and who is entering his tenth season as a coach. In 2003, Coach Bourgase established this website publish his ideas and interact with other coaches. As a young coach, he is conscious of coaches who have taught him the game (such as Ken Olynyk, Sherwyn Benn, and Michèle Belanger) and always willing to help other coaches. Initially, Coach Bourgase coached a fourteen and under team while in high school. Although those first two seasons were a learning experience, Coach Bourgase would not describe his coaching at that time as good practice. Since that time, he has continued to learn and improved himself tremendously – as a person and a coach. “At the age of thirty-six, I was a National Coach of the Year. My Kansas State team had won twenty-five and lost two, and I thought I was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Today I am twice the coach I was then.” Coach Bourgase also wishes to use this website as a forum for his coaching philosophy and the systems he has created as a result of his core values and beliefs. To better explain his programme, which is athlete-centered, coach-driven, and sport-science-supported, Coach Bourgase invites you to read his Coaching Profile, visit the online Resource Library, or send him an email. These ideas are flexible and constantly evolving, as Coach Bourgase develops as a coach. Coach Bourgase may continue to coach for another forty-six years, six months, or some time in-between. It is a goal that when he is finished, Coach Bourgase can say that he won on the court and that he and the players he has worked with are better people off the court. |
